​We are working with a nationwide property management company who are looking to appoint a Building Surveyor to join their Building Safety Team. This will be a hybrid role with a requirement of 3 days in the north London office. This role will not be a site/field based role and you will be based in the headquarters where you will work with managing agents throughout the UK to provide strategic instruction.

You will be project managing and overseeing multiple major building remediation projects which address construction and fire safety defects on residential multi-occupancy buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the company meets both statutory and non-statutory responsibilities in relation to legislation and associated Building Regulations, with a particular emphasis on building safety and remediation of major projects including issues related to the construction of a building and fire safety matters.

  • Provide a professional advisory service within all areas of Building Safety and Surveying, as well as ensure that a residential property investment portfolio is managed in accordance with all health and safety laws

  • To ensure our Managing Agents are discharging their duties in respect of Building Remediation and Building Safety and perform in line with their scope of services.

  • Act as an internal consultant and advisor on technical construction documents such as plans, contracts and project specifications/drawings concerning buildings with potential construction and safety defects.

  • Providing in-house Building Surveying and construction expertise to support the company's asset protection obligations and Building Safety Management.

Qualifications / Skills

  • Graduate or equivalent level membership of RICS, RIBA or MCIOB

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Building Regulations, the H&S regulatory framework, property law, property construction and building maintenance.

  • Experience of operating within the residential landlord and tenant law sector

  • Ability to liaise, negotiate and work alongside developers and warranty providers

  • Strong knowledge of building construction technology, building pathology, contract administration and maintenance of low to high-rise residential blocks

  • Knowledge of construction/property reports along with Fire Risk Assessments, Health & Safety Risk Assessments, mechanical and electrical safety reports and other statutory periodic assessments relating to building structure

  • Strong knowledge of CDM regulations, Building Regulations and specifically Approved Document B, fire safety legislation.

You must be incredibly meticulous and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This is a constantly evolving façade and building safety landscape that is intricate, with regular changes in advice, guidance, and legislation.
